  4. high cards (10, J, Q, K, and ace) count -1
  5. 7, 8 and 9 are neutral and can be ignored
  6. Always know how many decks of cards have not been played yet.
  7. The higher the True Count, the higher the bet.

What is card counting?

Card counting is a special strategy that lets you see when you have an advantage in blackjack. Card counting is based on the mathematical calculation of probabilities (stochastic). Each card played changes the expected value for the cards that come. The cards played are used in continuous draw to draw conclusions about the cards that can still be expected.

In a simple 52-card Blackjack deck, each of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King, and Ace is included in four suits. For example, if the ace of hearts is dealt with, only three aces remain. The probability of another of the remaining three aces is lower than in other cards that have not yet been dealt with, and therefore they still have four cards left.

According to this principle, mathematicians have developed different systems for blackjack, since some cards have a greater influence on profits or losses than others. The more cards are dealt, the more accurately you can calculate your chances of winning.

The best-known counting system is called “Hi-Lo”. The system offers a perfect combination of simplicity and precision. This gives beginners the best chance of winning.

How does card counting work in blackjack?

Most card counting systems have in common that all card denominations are divided into two groups.

Continuous count

The “Running Count” is the “running counter.”

You start counting after the dealer has mixed.

Each card is assigned a corresponding value depending on the counting system used.

In the High-Lo Count, as its name implies, a distinction is made between high (high) and low (low) cards .

Is it illegal to count cards?

Card counting uses only all visible information to gain an advantage. So it is nothing but mental arithmetic and abstract “thinking.” So in a democratic country, you should be allowed to think and count cards accordingly.

Counting cards alone is not good. You also have to implement the information obtained by changing the way you play. This works by increasing usage in good situations. For casinos, therefore, the easiest way to protect themselves against card counters is to prohibit increasing bets. If the dealer or his pit boss learns that a player gains an advantage by counting cards and adjusting their bets accordingly, they may prohibit play or prohibit the player from varying their bets. The player must then make “flat bets”. This means that each mission must be the same. So you can no longer take advantage of the higher stakes.
